Senior Transportation Manager – Food Distribution

Location: New Brunswick, NJ Salary: $100,000 - $160,000 DOE + Comprehensive Benefits

Are you an experienced transportation leader who thrives in a fast-paced food distribution environment? Do you have a proven history of improving fleet performance, reducing transportation costs, leading high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional customer service?

Our client, a growing leader in food distribution, is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager to oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic leader who understands the complexities of food logistics and can drive operational excellence while maintaining the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all transportation operations for a high-volume food distribution network.
  • Manage transportation supervisors, dispatchers, drivers, and support personnel.
  • Oversee fleet utilization, routing, scheduling, and delivery performance.
  • Partner closely with warehouse leadership to optimize outbound operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, FDA, and food safety regulations.
  • Develop and monitor transportation KPIs including:
    • On-time delivery
    • Cost per mile
    • Driver productivity
    • Equipment utilization
    • Customer service metrics
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Manage transportation budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Build, mentor, and develop transportation leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Procurement, and Customer Service departments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of recent leadership experience in:
    • Food Distribution
    • Transportation Operations
    • Distribution Center Operations
    • Warehouse Management
  • Strong understanding of refrigerated and/or food distribution logistics.
  • Experience managing large transportation teams.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and food safety regulations.
  • Experience with TMS, WMS, routing software, and transportation analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Bilingual a plus(Spanish and English)
