Job Description

Gpac is partnering with a confidential pet food manufacturer in Northern Indiana to identify a Quality & Food Safety Manager. This role will lead food safety and quality programs at the plant level, ensuring compliance with FSMA, GFSI/BRC standards, and corporate quality requirements. The position plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, audit readiness, continuous improvement, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain FSMA compliance, Food Safety Plans, and Preventive Controls
  • Oversee and manage BRC/GFSI certification and audit readiness
  • Manage site-level quality assurance and food safety systems, SOPs, and documentation
  • Serve as primary point of contact with FDA, certification bodies, customers, and consultants
  • Lead CAPA programs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee pest control, microbiological testing, and finished product evaluation programs
  • Train, develop, and lead QA staff including supervisors, specialists, and technicians
  • Support supplier quality programs and raw material approval processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, R&D, and leadership teams
  • Actively contribute to site senior management initiatives and business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in food manufacturing or quality
  • 5–10 years of food processing experience with supervisory responsibility
  • Experience with FDA-regulated environments and GFSI certification programs
  • HACCP and/or PCQI certification preferred
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
