Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation (1–3 Years)

Location: Providence, RI (On-Site)Salary: $105,000–$130,000 + Signing Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

A highly respected and well-established regional law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of civil litigation experience to join its Providence, Rhode Island office. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior litigation attorney looking to gain hands-on courtroom experience, strong mentorship, and meaningful responsibility early in their career.

The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of complex civil litigation matters, including:

  • Professional Liability Defense
  • Construction Litigation
  • Products Liability
  • Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Litigation
  • Life Sciences Litigation
  • Toxic Tort Defense
  • General Civil Litigation

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned litigation matters from inception through resolution with partner oversight.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda supporting case strategy.
  • Handle written discovery and participate in depositions and hearings.
  • Assist with trial preparation and, when appropriate, participate in courtroom proceedings.
  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
  • Maintain proactive case management and meet all court and internal deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Rhode Island Bar admission (or eligibility for admission).
  • 1–3 years of civil litigation experience.
  • Experience in Rhode Island state and/or federal courts preferred.
  • Exposure to depositions, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a team environment.
  • Strong advocacy, organization, and communication skills.
