Job Description

Position Title: International Operations Manager

Location: Kansas City, MO (On-Site)

Compensation: $80,000–$90,000 base salary (flexible based on qualifications) + 10% annual bonus

Position Summary:

The International Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily air and/or ocean import and export operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable movement of freight. This role provides leadership to the operations team, manages key customer and carrier relationships, and leverages performance metrics to drive continuous operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end international import and export operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and profitability

  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives focused on gross margin improvement and customer satisfaction

  • Analyze data, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify trends and drive performance improvements

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering accountability and collaboration

  • Identify and develop high-potential employees to support long-term leadership growth

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and international partners

  • Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues and service challenges

  • Design and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and reduce costs

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable import/export regulations and industry requirements

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in international freight forwarding, LTL, FTL, or expedited operations

  • Minimum of 1 year managing direct reports

  • CargoWise Certified Specialist (or ability to obtain and maintain certification)

  • IMDG and/or IATA Dangerous Goods certification

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
