Logistics Engineer
Newark, New Jersey | $125,000–$140,000
Build Smarter. Move Faster. Improve What Matters.
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Engineer to analyze, design, and optimize transportation, warehousing, distribution, and material-flow processes. This is an opportunity for an analytical, solutions-oriented professional who understands that logistics engineering is about more than moving freight—it is about finding better, faster, and more cost-effective ways to move it.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of logistics operations knowledge, engineering principles, data analysis, process improvement, and project management.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze current transportation, warehouse, distribution, and material-flow processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement logistics solutions that improve efficiency, capacity, service levels, and cost.
- Develop and analyze operational models, KPI dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Evaluate transportation networks, routes, facility layouts, inventory flows, and distribution strategies.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and unnecessary costs and develop practical solutions.
- Work closely with operations, transportation, warehouse, procurement, IT, and management teams to implement improvements.
- Use data to support decisions involving capacity planning, transportation optimization, labor utilization, inventory movement, and facility operations.
- Lead or support continuous-improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, and root-cause analysis.
- Evaluate TMS, WMS, ERP, and other logistics technology to improve visibility and operational performance.
- Develop business cases and ROI analyses for proposed logistics improvements.
- Support implementation of new processes, systems, facilities, and operational strategies.
- Monitor results following implementation and make adjustments to ensure improvements are sustained.
- Prepare presentations and recommendations for senior leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics engineering, supply chain engineering, industrial engineering, transportation, distribution, or a closely related environment.
- Strong understanding of transportation, warehousing, distribution, and supply-chain operations.
- Demonstrated experience using data to identify operational problems and develop measurable solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with data visualization and analytical tools is highly desirable.
- Experience working with TMS, WMS, ERP, or other supply-chain technology platforms.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement, or similar methodologies.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to work with both operational personnel and senior leadership.
- Someone who can move beyond identifying problems and actually drive solutions through implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- APICS/ASCM certification such as CPIM or CSCP.
- Experience with transportation network optimization or warehouse/distribution-center design.
- Experience with logistics modeling, simulation, or optimization software.
- Experience in a high-volume transportation, distribution, manufacturing, or 3PL environment.
- Strong knowledge of KPI development, cost modeling, and operational forecasting.
What’s Offered
Base Salary: $125,000–$140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional who enjoys solving complex operational problems, improving processes, working with data, and seeing their recommendations turn into measurable results.
