Job Title: Senior Estimator – Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Estimator to join our structural steel team. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing comprehensive, accurate cost estimates for all contract types involving structural steel fabrication and erection. This role requires technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex estimating projects from start to finish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage bid preparation for structural steel fabrication and erection projects, including complex and large-scale jobs

  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements

  • Perform detailed material take-offs of structural steel and buyout items; input data into FabTrol as necessary

  • Solicit, review, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and completeness

  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, erectors, engineers, architects, and internal stakeholders to clarify design intent and ensure bid compliance

  • Prepare complete cost estimates and thorough bid proposals, clearly outlining inclusions and exclusions

  • Present estimates for internal review and gain required approvals before submission

  • Submit finalized bids and distribute to applicable parties

  • Perform pricing on change orders, assist with time studies, and support outsourced fabrication processes when required

  • Maintain consistent and professional communication throughout the bidding process

  • Regular, punctual attendance and occasional overtime as needed to meet project deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)

  • 6–8 years of experience as an Estimator in a structural steel fabrication environment (required)

  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection methods, materials, and industry practices

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural and architectural drawings

  • Experience with estimating software such as FabTrol (required)

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
