Mechanical Estimator (HVAC / Plumbing)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator with 5–10+ years of experience in HVAC and plumbing systems to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC and plumbing projects
- Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Review bid documents, plans, and addenda to ensure complete scope coverage
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontract cost projections
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed
- Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data
- Assist with turnover meetings to operations upon project award
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of mechanical estimating experience (HVAC and/or plumbing)
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects
- Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
