Criminal Defense Associate Attorney – Austin, TX

A well-established law firm in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney passionate about protecting clients' rights and providing strong legal advocacy in criminal defense cases.

About the Role:

As a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney, you will handle a variety of criminal cases across Central Texas, representing clients in county courts, detention facilities, and during negotiations with prosecutors. You will take an active role in litigation, including pre-trial hearings, motion practice, and trials.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients as a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney in cases at various stages, from pre-trial hearings to trial proceedings.
  • Advocate for clients in county courts and detention facilities.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and develop case strategies.
  • Maintain strong client communication and provide legal guidance throughout the case.
  • Travel as needed to jails and detention centers within the region.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (JD & active State Bar membership required).
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney, either in defense or prosecution.
  • Prior experience handling cases in Travis, Hays, and Williamson County courts is highly preferred.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy skills and litigation experience.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume docket independently.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Central Texas.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 per year (DOE) + performance-based bonuses.
