Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Credit Officer (CCO) $90,000-$130,000 to lead and manage our credit department. This role is responsible for overseeing the credit approval process, post-closing loan review, credit policy maintenance, and ensuring overall credit quality. The CCO will directly supervise the loan processor and serve as a key leader in shaping the institution’s credit risk framework. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in commercial credit, sound judgment, and the leadership needed to guide a high-performing credit team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the credit department and ensure consistent, high-quality underwriting standards

  • Conduct post-closing reviews on loans to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance

  • Supervise and mentor the loan processor, ensuring efficient workflow and alignment with department goals

  • Maintain and regularly update the institution’s loan and credit policies to reflect regulatory standards and best practices

  • Work collaboratively with lending teams to structure sound credit proposals and mitigate risks

  • Monitor credit portfolio performance and provide guidance on risk rating accuracy and loan administration

  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, external regulations, and audit requirements

  • Participate in credit committee discussions and provide senior-level approval on loan requests

  • Support the institution’s strategic lending goals by balancing credit quality with growth objectives

  • Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership and the Board regarding credit trends, portfolio health, and emerging risks


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)

  • 10+ years of credit experience in a commercial banking environment, with leadership or department oversight

  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation, underwriting, regulatory compliance, and portfolio monitoring

  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and enforce credit policy and procedures

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Experience with credit software and reporting systems is a plus
