SBA Underwriter – Community Bank Platform
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced SBA Underwriter to evaluate, structure, and approve SBA 7(a) and 504 loan requests in alignment with SBA SOP and bank credit policy
High-visibility role partnering with lenders, credit leadership, and closing teams to support responsible small-business growth

Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive credit analysis and underwriting for SBA 7(a) and 504 loan transactions
Assess cash flow, collateral, guarantor strength, global debt service, and risk rating
Ensure strict adherence to SBA SOP, eligibility, and documentation requirements
Structure loan terms, conditions, and covenants to mitigate risk while supporting borrower success
Prepare clear, well-supported credit memorandums for approval authorities
Partner with lenders to pre-screen opportunities and recommend viable deal structures
Coordinate with closing, processing, and servicing to ensure guaranty integrity and salability
Support portfolio quality and compliance reviews, including file remediation when needed
Qualifications
3+ years of SBA underwriting experience within a bank, credit union, or SBA lending platform
Strong knowledge of SBA 7(a) and/or 504 programs, SOP requirements, and eligibility rules
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial statements, projections, and business plans
Experience structuring start-ups, acquisitions, partner buyouts, CRE-supported, and working-capital deals
Excellent written communication skills for credit presentations and approvals
Detail-oriented with strong risk awareness and regulatory mindset
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
