Mergers & Acquisitions Attorney

Mergers & Acquisitions attorneys with 8+ years of experience handling middle-market transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, entity structuring, and complex business deals, are encouraged to explore this opportunity. This role offers the ability to take a lead position on sophisticated transactional matters while working directly with business owners and executives.

The group represents privately held companies, closely held businesses, and entrepreneurial clients across a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on sophisticated transactional work and long-term client relationships.

Position Overview

The attorney will take a leading role in mergers and acquisitions and broader corporate transactional matters, including business sales and acquisitions, restructurings, entity formation, governance, and commercial contracting. This position involves managing deals from initial structuring and due diligence through negotiation and closing, while serving as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Illinois bar admission
  • 8+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactional work
  • Strong background in middle-market business transactions
  • Experience with entity structuring, governance, and commercial contracts
  • Ability to independently manage complex deals from start to finish
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Excellent judgment, communication, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage M&A transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic business combinations
  • Draft and negotiate purchase agreements, ancillary documents, and related transaction materials
  • Advise clients on corporate governance, business structure, and strategic planning
  • Oversee due diligence and coordinate with opposing counsel and advisors
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and leadership teams
  • Support business development and ongoing client relationship growth

Compensation & Work Environment

  • Salary range: $175,000 – $250,000+ depending on experience
  • Billable requirement: 1,800 hours annually
  • Collaborative, team-oriented practice with strong support resources
  • Direct client contact and meaningful responsibility on transactions
  • Long-term growth potential within an established corporate practice
