Senior Field Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Field Technician to lead start-up, troubleshooting, and technical support efforts for a range of mechanical and control systems. This role is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring a high level of technical expertise, organization, and communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical equipment, and will be responsible for supporting project commissioning and providing field-level training and support.

Key Responsibilities: This list includes, but is not limited to:

System Start-Up and Commissioning

  • Coordinate with customers to ensure equipment is prepared for start-up

  • Collaborate with internal team members to schedule and organize start-up activities

  • Conduct electrical, airflow, gas, and refrigerant testing

  • Document start-up procedures, performance values, and corrective actions

  • Follow up to ensure resolution of any start-up related issues

Controls Start-Up and Troubleshooting

  • Perform on-site start-up of:

    • Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems

    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

    • Gas Detection Systems

    • Critical control systems for laboratory and healthcare environments

Mechanical System Start-Up and Troubleshooting

  • Start-up of:

    • Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems

    • Make-up air units

    • Commercial gas/electric rooftop units

    • Industrial heating and cooling systems

    • Advanced fan systems with integrated controls

Technical Support & Integration

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for customers and contractors

  • Assist with control integration across multiple equipment manufacturers

  • Perform field measurement and verification of system performance

Training & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor junior technicians in start-up and troubleshooting practices

  • Conduct on-site training sessions for contractors and end users

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with control panel fabrication

  • Program control systems and devices

  • Support customer service and parts selection

  • Provide technical input to the Sales Team for system design and layout

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience in field service, HVAC, or controls systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Knowledge of DDC systems, VFDs, gas detection, VRF, and related HVAC equipment
