Lab Pack Chemist – Waste Industry

About the Role

Are you looking for a hands-on career where your chemistry knowledge makes a real impact on safety and the environment? We’re seeking a motivated Lab Pack Chemist to join our team. In this role, you’ll identify, package, and prepare hazardous and non-hazardous waste for safe transport and disposal while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Every day is different, and your work helps protect people, businesses, and communities.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify, sort, and categorize laboratory chemicals and waste streams.
  • Safely package compatible materials into approved containers (“lab packs”).
  • Complete manifests, labels, and shipping documentation in compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and RCRA standards.
  • Travel to client sites (labs, universities, healthcare facilities, and industrial clients) to provide onsite waste management support.
  • Offer guidance on safe handling and disposal practices.
  • Support spill response, drum bulking, and sampling as needed.
  • Work daily in PPE while maintaining a strong safety-first mindset.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Solid chemistry knowledge with the ability to identify unknowns.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations (RCRA, DOT, EPA, OSHA).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
  • Physically able to lift containers and work in field conditions.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-driven, and adaptable to different environments.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Prior experience in hazardous waste or environmental services.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
