Audit Manager - Government

Location: Livingston, NJ (New York, NY also considered)

Overview

A national public accounting, consulting and technology firm is seeking an Audit Manager for its public sector practice, based in Livingston, New Jersey (New York, NY also considered). You will lead audit teams serving government clients and serve as the primary client contact (hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage a team of auditors and ensure high-quality work under professional standards and firm policies
• Serve as primary client contact with exceptional responsiveness and proactive communication
• Plan and design audit strategies tailored to client risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards
• Manage budgeting, scheduling, billing and resource allocation for engagements
• Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management or audit committees
• Stay current on accounting standards, regulations and best practices
• Identify opportunities to extend services and contribute to proposals for prospective clients
• Network with industry professionals and professional organizations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
• 5+ years of recent public accounting external audit experience with government clients
• CPA (or able to obtain reciprocity for the home office state)
• 3+ years of supervisory experience
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication and project management skills
• Ability to travel to client sites and offices as needed
