Civil Defense Litigation Associate Attorney

A well-established law firm is seeking a Civil Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys managing complex litigation matters, working directly with clients, and developing strong courtroom advocacy skills.

The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload involving civil defense matters from inception through resolution while collaborating with experienced attorneys in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload from initial assignment through resolution.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda.

  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.

  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts.

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial.

  • Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.

  • Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel regarding case status and strategy.

  • Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and motion practice.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active license to practice law in Texas.

  • 2+ years of civil defense litigation experience preferred.

  • Experience handling discovery, motion practice, and depositions.

  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Trial experience is a plus but not required.
