Tax Manager - Commercial

Location: Charlotte, NC

Overview

A Southeast tax, assurance and consulting CPA firm is seeking a Tax Manager for its commercial tax practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. You will own client relationships end-to-end, perform technical review of returns across entity types and lead and develop the tax team.

Responsibilities

• Develop thorough knowledge of each client business and keep clients updated on engagement progress, issues and resolutions
• Perform technical tax review of multiple returns of varying complexity
• Research complex tax issues and recommend creative solutions
• Delegate and manage tax and research assignments and manage billable hour budgets
• Provide direction, coaching, performance feedback and on-the-job training to the tax team
• Build development plans for team members and help assess staff and senior readiness for promotion
• Generate new business through community involvement, networking and professional events
• Help recruit new and experienced staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; master's in tax preferred
• 5+ years of recent accounting firm experience managing multiple tax projects and client engagements, scheduling staff and managing workflow
• Significant experience with all types of entity taxes; industry experience a plus
• CPA certification
• Excellent communication and multitasking skills
• Travel up to 15% may be required
