Job Title: Estimator – Heavy Civil & Marine Construction

Job Summary:
The Estimator will prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil and marine construction projects, ensuring competitive bids that align with project scope and company goals. The role requires expertise in using HCSS HeavyBid software and a strong understanding of marine construction to evaluate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will collaborate with project teams to deliver reliable estimates that support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for heavy civil and marine construction projects, such as bridges, ports, and bulkheads.
  • Utilize HCSS HeavyBid software to input data, generate bids, and analyze project costs.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to perform accurate takeoffs and pricing.
  • Assess costs for marine-specific elements, including dredging, piling, and waterfront structures.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
  • Identify potential risks, contingencies, and value engineering opportunities in estimates.
  • Prepare bid proposals and present cost breakdowns to management for review.
  • Work with project managers and superintendents to ensure estimates align with field execution plans.
  • Maintain an organized database of historical costs and bid data for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, 3 years of experience in construction estimating, with specific familiarity in marine construction projects.
  • Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid software for bid preparation and cost analysis.
  • Strong ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil and marine construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is highly preferred.
