Job Description

GPAC is working with a well-established national food manufacturer in upstate New York that is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic (2nd and 3rd shifts). They will be responsible responsible for keeping the equipment in good operating condition by performing preventive maintenance, machine tests, troubleshoots, removing technical issues, and performing emergency repairs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled machinery, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Support line changeovers and startups to keep production running smoothly
  • Install and maintain electrical systems (110V–440V) and control components
  • Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and food safety standards

 

Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), personal safety, and food safety standards
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environments
  • Strong experience with PLCs and electrical troubleshooting
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and solve issues quickly
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a food production environment (including exposure to flour/yeast)
  • Willingness to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Effectively support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime
  • Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted
  • Maintain and repair all plant equipment with minimal instruction
