Associate Attorney (4+ Years Experience) – Criminal Defense Background

I am currently representing a highly respected firm who is seeking a 4+ year Associate Attorney to join their practice. They are looking for a trial-ready advocate who is passionate about defending constitutional rights and possesses the technical skill to navigate complex legal challenges.

The Role

This position is designed for an attorney who has moved beyond foundational training and is ready to manage a robust caseload with high levels of independence. You will be responsible for everything from initial strategy development and client counseling to lead-chairing evidentiary hearings and trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advocacy: Develop and execute comprehensive defense strategies for felony and misdemeanor cases.
  • Litigation: Lead-chair hearings, bench trials, and jury trials; handle complex sentencings and post-conviction motions.
  • Legal Writing: Draft high-level substantive motions (Suppression, Dismissal, Rule 12, etc.) and appellate briefs.
  • Case Management: Oversee the lifecycle of cases with minimal supervision, ensuring all deadlines and ethical obligations are met.
  • Mentorship: Collaborate with and provide guidance to junior associates and legal support staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of dedicated practice with an emphasis in criminal law.
  • Bar Admission: Active member in good standing with the Arizona State Bar.
  • Skills: Proven track record in the courtroom; exceptional persuasive writing skills; and the ability to manage complex discovery.
  • Client Service: Ability to build trust with diverse clients during high-stress legal situations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $95,000 – $120,000 (Based on experience and trial history).
