Job Title: Estimating Manager – Structural Steel
Position Overview:
A key client of gpac is seeking a seasoned Estimating Manager to lead and oversee the estimating department of a well-established structural steel fabricator. This is a strategic leadership role for an experienced estimator with a deep understanding of structural steel projects and a proven track record of managing high-performing estimating teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for structural steel fabrication and erection projects
Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop detailed takeoffs and cost estimates
Oversee bid preparation, subcontractor/vendor pricing, and bid strategy
Manage estimating workflows, proposal timelines, and resource allocation
Interface with clients, general contractors, engineers, and internal departments to clarify scope and ensure bid accuracy
Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations for junior and senior estimators
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting with executive leadership
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years of senior estimating experience in the structural steel fabrication industry
Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes, industry standards, and materials
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., FabTrol, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, MS Excel)
Experience leading or mentoring a team of estimators
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in structural engineering, construction management, or similar technical field
Familiarity with project management software and 3D modeling tools (e.g., Tekla Structures)
Estimating experience on large commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects
