Design Support Specialist | Mechanical Design & VDC Coordination

A growing engineering and construction support group is seeking a Design Support Specialist to help drive coordination between design, VDC, and field teams on active projects.
This is a hybrid coordination role sitting between engineering and operations—ideal for someone with a background in mechanical design, VDC, or project coordination who wants to stay involved in technical work while helping keep projects aligned, organized, and moving forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support project setup, scheduling, and documentation across mechanical design projects
- Develop and maintain project work plans, including task tracking and internal deadlines
- Coordinate across engineering, VDC, and commissioning teams to align scope, resources, and timelines
- Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, and coordination discussions with internal teams and external partners
- Assist in planning fabrication workflows, including pre-spooling and detailing coordination
- Manage project documentation, design logs, and deliverables
- Identify risks early and help drive solutions to keep projects on track
- Coordinate third-party resources and ensure alignment with project goals
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in project coordination, VDC, or engineering within the mechanical construction industry
- Understanding of mechanical systems and MEP design workflows
- Experience working with BIM/VDC environments or construction project management tools
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues and take initiative
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
