Design Engineer / Drafter – Custom Fabrication & Ag Equipment
Location: Alexandria, SD | Full-Time | On-Site

Our client is a growth-oriented manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered stainless and mild steel equipment for the ag sector. With decades of experience, they’re known for delivering high-quality, innovative solutions across the U.S. and internationally.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a Design Engineer or experienced Drafter to help develop custom mechanical solutions for agricultural applications. This role works closely with customers, sales, and production to design and refine products that meet performance and manufacturability standards.

If you’ve got SolidWorks chops and experience with sheet metal, we want to talk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed engineering and drafting drawings for fabrication

  • Collaborate with sales to understand project specs and select materials

  • Support production with drawing clarifications and troubleshooting

  • Update drawings and ERP data for design changes

  • Implement design improvements based on field and customer feedback

  • Propose ideas to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality

  • Manage CAD models and technical documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent design/drafting experience

  • 3–5 years in a Design Engineer, Drafter, or CAD Designer role

  • Strong SolidWorks skills (sheet metal/fabrication focus)

  • Familiar with 2D/3D modeling, drafting standards, and design for manufacturability

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems

  • Knowledge of brake press and fabrication processes is a plus

  • Effective communicator who thrives in collaborative, hands-on settings

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $85,000–$95,000 DOE
