SMT Production Supervisor

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 | Full-Time | On-Site

We are seeking an experienced SMT Production Supervisor to lead surface mount manufacturing operations in a fast-paced electronics production environment. This role will oversee SMT lines, drive production performance, and lead a team of operators and technicians to ensure quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

 

About the Role

This position is responsible for overseeing daily SMT production operations, ensuring workflow efficiency, maintaining product quality, and driving continuous improvement across surface mount manufacturing processes.

Reports To: Manufacturing Manager Direct Reports: SMT Operators and Technicians

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily SMT production operations including screen printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, and SPI.

  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and throughput targets.

  • Monitor line performance, downtime, and production efficiency.

  • Coordinate line setups, job changeovers, and production readiness.

  • Lead, coach, and develop SMT operators and technicians.

  • Assign work, manage staffing levels, and approve timecards or overtime.

  • Maintain compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.

  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve defects and improve yield.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.

  • Oversee SMT equipment including printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, conveyors, and AOI systems.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 3–7+ years of SMT / PCB electronics manufacturing experience.

  • 1–3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Ability to read PCB drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing work instructions.

  • Experience working with MES or ERP systems.

  • Knowledge of reflow profiling, stencil design, and SMT process control.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
