Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney Position Overview

A well-established Napa law firm is seeking a motivated Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of experience to join its growing litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of sophisticated commercial disputes while developing skills in litigation, arbitration, trial preparation, and appellate matters.

The ideal candidate is interested in being a well-rounded litigator and enjoys working across different types of commercial disputes. Experience with business, contract, real estate, or other complex civil matters is a plus, but the firm is primarily seeking strong litigation fundamentals, analytical ability, and a willingness to take on increasing responsibility.

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in California
  • California Bar admission preferred
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school preferred
  • Strong academic background and excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Exposure to trial preparation, arbitration, or appellate matters is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and prioritize a high-volume workload
  • Strong judgment, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team
  • Strong work ethic and interest in taking on increasing levels of responsibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with legal research, document management, or AI-assisted legal tools is a plus
