Civil Project Manager – Excavation & Utilities
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to join a growing contractor in the Nashville market. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in excavation and underground utilities who can successfully lead projects from preconstruction through closeout. The company has a strong pipeline of work and offers long-term stability, growth opportunities, and a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage civil construction projects with a focus on sitework, excavation, and underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Oversee projects from preconstruction through completion
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasts
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams
- Review plans, specifications, and ensure compliance with local codes and regulations
- Handle RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Monitor job costs and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Support estimating and participate in bid reviews and project buyout
- Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality control
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in civil/site development
- Strong background in excavation and underground utilities required
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specs, and contracts
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in software such as Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam, or similar
- Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred (not required)
