Job Title: Diesel Technician – Heavy-Duty Fleet Maintenance

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking fleet operation, is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join their growing team. The Diesel Technician will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet to ensure it meets DOT and company safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, work well independently, and thrive in a collaborative, safety-first environment.

This is a full-time role offering excellent benefits, a modernized shop, and a strong team culture in the Greater Cedar Rapids area.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel trucks and related equipment (engine, chassis, hydraulics, electrical, etc.)

  • Use onboard systems and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) in line with DOT standards

  • Work with drivers to identify issues and complete accurate, timely repairs

  • Estimate labor and parts costs; requisition and install replacement parts

  • Respond to service calls and complete on-site repairs as needed

  • Maintain clean work areas and adhere to OSHA and company safety standards

  • Interpret technical documents and service manuals

  • Support company goals for quality, safety, and customer service


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of diesel truck repair experience

  • Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic systems

  • Welding experience is a plus, not required

  • Must have own tools and valid driver’s license

  • Highly organized, self-driven, and safety-focused

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities


Schedule & Work Conditions:

  • Full-time, benefit-eligible position

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:30pm; occasional Saturdays

  • Non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay)

  • Physically demanding role; exposure to noise, fluids, and all weather conditions

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs and operate tools/equipment safely
