Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney

A well-established law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney to join its growing practice in North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to manage a full caseload while working closely with experienced partners representing employers and insurers across a wide range of industries. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent writing ability, and the ability to manage cases independently while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a workers’ compensation defense caseload from initial claim through resolution
Conduct depositions of claimants, lay witnesses, medical providers, and expert witnesses
Draft and respond to motions, briefs, and discovery
Review and analyze medical records and claim files to develop case strategy
Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and other proceedings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission
Investigate claims and perform legal analysis on cases
Negotiate settlements and prepare client reports as required by insurers
Qualifications:
2+ years of Workers’ Compensation defense experience required
Experience taking depositions and participating in mediations preferred
Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
