Project Manager / Sales – PEMB & Structural Steel Buildings

A respected steel fabricator and building contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Sales professional to help drive business development while managing pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) and structural steel building projects from award through completion. This role is ideal for a relationship-focused professional who understands steel building systems, can build strong client partnerships, and successfully deliver projects from estimate through final completion.

As a Project Manager / Sales, you will be responsible for developing new client relationships, identifying project opportunities, supporting the estimating process, and managing awarded projects. You will work closely with clients, engineers, fabrication teams, and field crews to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and owners
  • Identify new PEMB and structural steel building project opportunities
  • Assist with bid strategy, estimating coordination, and proposal development
  • Manage projects from contract award through close-out
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost reports
  • Coordinate with field leaders, engineers, detailers, and fabrication shops
  • Lead project meetings and maintain client communication
  • Review drawings, submittals, RFIs & change orders
  • Monitor project progress, site logistics, safety, and quality
  • Support project close-out and final documentation

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience with pre-engineered metal building systems (PEMB / MBS)
  • Experience in project management, sales, or business development within construction
  • Strong understanding of steel building systems, structural steel, and metal building components
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient with construction and project management software

Preferred

  • PE license or on path to obtaining PE
  • Experience selling or managing PEMB or structural steel building projects
  • Existing relationships with general contractors or developers
  • Familiarity with AISC standards and metal building manufacturers
  • Background working for a steel fabricator, PEMB supplier, or building contractor

Compensation & Benefits

  • $85,000 – $100,000 DOE + bonus / commission potential
