Job Description

 A well-established law firm is expanding and hiring a  Real Estate Underwriter/Attorney  to join the team. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone looking for new challenges, a change in their career, or to grow professionally.

The Underwriter will work in a high-volume environment.  

* MUST have at least 5 years of current title review and/or title curative experience.

* MUST be able to identify title defects including break in the chain of title, prior liens, legal description issues.

  • Examine title reports of varying complexity to determine the necessary requirements to insure title and determine what matters will be exceptions from title insurance coverage
  • Adhere to insurer’s underwriting guidelines
  • Generate commitments for, and policies of, title insurance, using employer designated software
  • Manage workflow to ensure all tasks are performed properly and timely, title searches are thorough and accurate, and title reports and tax searches are delivered when needed
  • Evaluate risk assessment related to title and capably identify title defects including break of change title, prior liens, legal descriptions issues, etc.

Must have:

  • A high level of professionalism in all aspects including, but not limited to communication, demeanor, and appearance
  • Good standing status with the Georgia Bar and complete all required Continuing Legal Education requirements and adhere to all relevant laws and guidelines
  • Familiarity with title abstracts and examinations, document retrieval, surveys, plat maps, and tax data
  • Knowledge of surveys and plotting metes and bounds
  • Aptitude to perform basic mathematical calculations and tasks requiring attention to detail, concentration, and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively, in a fast-paced team environment
  • PC proficiency including Microsoft Office and title software
  • At least five years of current title review and/or title curative experience.
