Insurance Defense / Coverage Litigation Attorney

A respected and growing litigation firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join its sophisticated coverage and litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to handle complex, high-level litigation matters for insurance carrier clients while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

The ideal Insurance Defense Attorney will have a strong background in complex civil litigation and insurance coverage matters, including experience representing insurance carriers in both state and federal courts. This attorney role offers substantial responsibility, hands-on litigation experience, and long-term growth potential within a highly regarded Insurance Defense practice.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex Insurance Defense and coverage litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Represent insurance carriers in multiple areas of insurance defense law
  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and legal analysis
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings
  • Prepare dispositive motions, summary judgment motions, and other complex motion practice
  • Assist with trial preparation and courtroom litigation strategy
  • Provide detailed reporting and settlement recommendations to carrier clients
  • Manage litigation files independently while collaborating with team members and support staff

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of litigation experience as an attorney
  • Strong Insurance Defense and coverage litigation background
  • Experience handling complex civil litigation matters
  • Experience conducting examinations under oath preferred
  • Trial experience as 1st or 2nd chair is highly valued
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and client relationships
  • Licensed and in good standing with the state bar of Illinois
