This role oversees daily jobsite operations, supervises field personnel and subcontractors, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and maintains project schedules while delivering projects on time and within budget. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site representative and works closely with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily field operations for commercial construction projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term project schedules.
- Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address scheduling or production issues.
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify quality workmanship and compliance with project standards.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies while maintaining a safe jobsite.
- Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning.
- Coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions and third-party agencies.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Collaborate with project management to resolve field conflicts and technical issues.
- Plan manpower, equipment, and material requirements to maximize productivity.
- Maintain daily reports documenting labor, equipment, weather, progress, and site activities.
- Coordinate deliveries to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays.
- Track project milestones and communicate schedule updates to stakeholders.
- Manage punch list completion and project closeout activities.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and project team members.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects.
- Experience with ground-up and/or large-scale renovation projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors while maintaining project quality and schedule.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience with Procore or similar project management software
- LEED project experience (preferred)
- Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred but not required)
