One of our top clients is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Defense Attorney to join our litigation team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated attorney with a strong background in insurance defense to handle a diverse and challenging caseload. The firm specailizes in Martime and Transportation defense.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and litigate a full range of insurance defense cases, including but not limited to transportation accidents, admilarty and maritime, and general liability matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Evaluate settlement opportunities and participate in negotiations and mediations.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Provide timely and effective communication with clients and insurance carriers.
  • Maintain meticulous and organized case files.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards and professional responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing law, with a primary focus on insurance defense litigation, tort or toxic tort.
  • Demonstrated success in all phases of litigation, from inception through resolution or trial.
  • Strong understanding of Illinois civil procedure and insurance law principles.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a significant caseload effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research databases and standard office software.
