Job Title: Commercial Leasing Attorney
Location: Nashville, Tennessee (Local Preferred, Hybrid/Remote Considered)
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Leasing Attorney. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on retail leasing in dynamic mixed-use and adaptive reuse environments. Experience with boutique and specialty retail is highly valued, but we are open to candidates with a background in office or healthcare leasing who are eager to add expertise in retail leasing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate lease documentation for landlords and tenants, including lease agreements, subleases, ground leases, guaranties, work letters, SNDAs, estoppels, assignments, forbearance agreements, reletting agreements, and collateral access agreements.
- Review, draft and negotiate complex Declarations, REAs and CCRs for retail and mixed-use projects for landlords and tenants.
- Advise clients on landlord-tenant issues and find solutions to avoid disputes and litigation.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives, providing tailored legal advice.
- Take an active role in chairing lease transactions and managing deals, supported by our experienced leasing team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with commercial leases, particularly in the retail, mixed-use and adaptive-reuse environments.
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating commercial leases.
- Excellent communication skills with a solid attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and lead transactions with confidence and competence.
- A genuine interest and curiosity about the business of commercial real estate development.
- Experience working in a sophisticated law firm environment is strongly preferred.
- Local candidates are preferred, but we are open to hybrid (2-3 days in the office) or remote arrangements for exceptional candidates. Remote candidates must be willing to travel to Nashville approximately one week per month.
- Billing 1600 hours
