JOB DESCRIPTION

We are partnered with a general contractor specializing in structural steel construction who is looking to add to their Quality Control department. If you are looking for a career change and have an interest in the construction or manufacturing industry, you'll want to take a closer look at this opportunity. QC has specific responsibilities tailored to ensure the quality and safety of fabricated steel structures.

 

Quality Control Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure adherence to AWS and AISC and other relevant standards during the fabrication process
  • Conducting regular audits of the fabrication process to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established quality control procedures
  • Implementing and monitoring welding procedures to ensure proper weld quality, including inspections, testing, and documentation

  • Overseeing visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods (e.g., ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant) to detect defects or imperfections in welded joints and steel components

  • Enforcing adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the fabrication process to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel

  • Collaboration with QC inspectors, CWIs, shop and field employees to provide additional training, manage AISC and PCI standards, QA/QC programs, and facilitate the annual 3rd party audits

 

Quality Control Qualifications:

  • +5 years in Structural Steel Fabrication and Welding

  • Ability to read and understand fabrication and construction drawings

  • Welding experience and certifications (D1.1 and/or D1.5)

  • Understanding of AISC and AWS standards

  • Certified Welding Inspector preferred
