Industrial Automation Project Manager Opportunity! 

A local, cutting edge manufacturer is seeking an Industrial Automation Project Managerto lead the design, build, and installation, maintenance, and integration of control systems for industrial specialty equipment. As Industrial Automation Project Manager, the focus is on developing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions to optimize performance and efficiency. Industrial Automation Project Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting automation equipment and related controls in a professional setting, with preference being given to experience in manufacturing/production environments.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with I&E/control system emphasis), or substantial equivalent experience in lieu of degree is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
  • Experience with robotics systems, especially FANUC and ABB.
  • Background in industrial machinery, including material handling or similar equipment.
  • Comfort working across different industries—industry agnostic, but industrial/manufacturing experience is essential.
  • Prior work at an integrator or OEM with exposure to diverse machinery and automation systems.
  • Not a fit for plant-based maintenance engineers—even strong programmers—unless you’ve led project work.
  • Candidates with process engineering, equipment commissioning, or systems design experience are ideal.
  • The capacity to work independently with minimal supervision is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel (35%) for project support is expected.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills are required.

Industrial Automation Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Own controls projects from concept to commissioning, including design, programming, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Execute multiple concurrent automation projects (5–10 at a time is typical).
  • Engage in equipment design, controls systems architecture, PLC programming, and robotic systems integration.
  • Occasional electrical panel design, though this is a smaller portion of the work.
  • Perform commissioning and startup at client sites as needed.
