Position: Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney

Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid Work Schedule)

Compensation: $165,000 – $200,000 (Base salary, commensurate with experience) + Benefits

Position Overview

A premier, super-regional powerhouse law firm is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded practice group in St. Louis. The Day-to-Day

  • Counsel high-net-worth families, individuals, and corporate clients regarding the administration and strategic disposition of their estates.

  • Design and implement basic to advanced lifetime, estate, and charitable planning strategies.

  • Partner with corporate clients on complex business succession issues and advise charitable institution clients on structured planned giving matters.

  • Conduct high-level research and analysis regarding complex state law and federal tax issues.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of dedicated experience in estate planning, wealth preservation, and tax law.

  • Must possess an active Missouri law license (or be eligible for immediate admission).

  • Proven experience with federal transfer tax and related income tax matters, including estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax.

  • Hands-on experience drafting and implementing core planning documents, including revocable/irrevocable trusts, wills, and powers of attorney.

  • Proficient with advanced estate and tax planning strategies, such as defective grantor trusts, GRATs, installment sales to grantor trusts, and CRTs.

  • Experience drafting premarital and marital agreements within the framework of wealth preservation.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex tax and legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for clients.
