Job Title: Fiduciary Litigation & Wealth Planning Attorney (Remote - Chicago)

About the Firm

We are a premier AM Law firm seeking an experienced, high-caliber attorney to join our sophisticated Private Client Services practice group. This is a fully remote position based out of our Chicago, IL market, offering the infrastructure and resources of Big Law alongside a manageable, quality-of-life balanced billable requirement for a skilled wealth planning fiduciary specialist.

Position Overview

This role sits at the intersection of complex trust disputes and high-level wealth strategy. As a wealth planning fiduciary expert, you will defend and prosecute fiduciary disputes while simultaneously crafting sophisticated wealth transfer plans for high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and families. We are looking for an attorney who thrives in high-stakes environments and understands the nuances of multi-jurisdictional estate laws.

  • Location: Remote (must be able to travel to the Chicago area occasionally)
  • Billable Requirement: 1,800 hours/year
  • Position Level: Mid-to-Senior Associate / Counsel

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation & Strategy: Manage and execute all phases of trust, estate, and fiduciary litigation as a core wealth planning fiduciary defender, including drafting pleadings, handling discovery, and conducting depositions.
  • Sophisticated Planning: Design, draft, and implement advanced wealth transfer and asset protection strategies. In this role, the attorney will regularly advise HNW clients on complex tax mitigation.
  • Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to individual fiduciaries, corporate trustees, and beneficiaries. A key focus for this wealth planning fiduciary position is mitigating risk before it leads to trial.
  • Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership across our national tax practices to deliver seamless service, establishing yourself as the go-to attorney for sophisticated estate management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in fiduciary litigation and/or sophisticated estate planning. The ideal attorney will have a proven track record within a peer Big Law firm or top-tier boutique practice.
  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials.
  • Credentials: An LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is highly preferred for this wealth planning fiduciary role.
  • Bar Admission: Active member in good standing with the Illinois State Bar (or eligible for immediate reciprocal admission).
