Position Summary- located in Evansville IN
The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in a manufacturing environment. This includes working in cold production areas to ensure temperature control systems operate safely, efficiently. The HVAC Technician plays a critical role in maintaining consistent environmental conditions to support product quality, employee safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems, including chillers, freezers, and air handling units.
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Monitor and adjust systems to maintain proper temperatures and humidity in production, storage, and office areas.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure environmental conditions meet food safety standards (HACCP, USDA, FDA).
Respond promptly to breakdowns, especially in temperature-critical areas, to minimize production impact.
Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols while performing maintenance work.
Assist in evaluating and recommending upgrades or replacements for HVAC/R equipment.
Maintain compliance with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal.
Support continuous improvement efforts to increase system efficiency and reduce energy usage.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in HVAC/R preferred.
3+ years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC/R, preferably in food manufacturing or cold storage environments.
Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical systems, and control systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
Comfortable working in cold environments for extended periods with appropriate PPE.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and be on-call as needed.
