Transportation Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to join its growing transportation team in the Chicago area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer who enjoys designing impactful transportation infrastructure projects and wants to work alongside a collaborative team on a diverse portfolio of roadway and highway improvements.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in transportation engineering, roadway design, and corridor modeling, along with experience delivering projects that meet state and local agency standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare roadway and highway design plans for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Develop corridor models and design alignments using industry-standard software.
- Design transportation improvements in accordance with applicable agency standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and public agencies throughout the design process.
- Produce construction documents, technical reports, and engineering calculations.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and quality control efforts.
- Support multidisciplinary teams on transportation and infrastructure projects from concept through final design.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining a high standard of quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- 10+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience, demonstrating strong technical expertise and a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Extensive experience in highway and roadway design and transportation engineering.
- Strong background in corridor modeling and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Experience designing projects in accordance with CDOT standards and specifications is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with OpenRoads and MicroStation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
