QA/QC Manager – Structural Steel Fabricator & Erector

A respected structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to lead all quality assurance and quality control functions across fabrication and field erection. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional with deep industry knowledge, strong documentation practices, and the ability to ensure compliance with welding, inspection, and structural steel quality standards. A CWI certification is required.

The QA/QC Manager will oversee inspections, verify compliance with specifications and codes, support welding processes, maintain project documentation, and collaborate with shop, field, and project teams to ensure every product meets the highest standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all QA/QC activities for fabrication and erection

  • Ensure welding quality, compliance, and adherence to CWI, AWS, and AISC standards

  • Conduct inspections, testing, and documentation for steel fabrication and field work

  • Maintain quality records, reports, NCRs, and corrective actions

  • Review drawings, WPS/PQRs, and project specifications

  • Support production teams with welding procedures and problem resolution

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients on quality matters

  • Monitor shop and field work for adherence to codes, safety, and best practices

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for quality systems and workflows

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection

  • CWI certification (required)

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, inspection requirements, and structural codes

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, WPS/PQRs, and specifications

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills

  • Familiarity with non-conformance management and corrective action processes

  • Experience working with both shop and field environments

Preferred

  • Background in both fabrication and erection operations

  • Experience managing QA/QC for commercial or industrial steel projects

  • Knowledge of AISC, AWS D1.1, and related quality standards

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100,000 – $120,000 (DOE)
