Project Manager – Commercial Construction (Federal Projects)

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee federal construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company with a strong backlog of government work and a reputation for delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has experience managing federal construction projects and is familiar with government contracting requirements, documentation, scheduling, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial federal construction projects from award through project completion
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, owners, architects, and government representatives
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and submittals
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve schedule or budget challenges
  • Ensure compliance with federal contract requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Conduct project meetings and provide regular progress updates to clients and company leadership
  • Support project closeout, punch lists, and final documentation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager for a commercial general contractor
  • Experience managing federal construction projects is required
  • Knowledge of federal contracting procedures, specifications, and documentation
  • Experience with design-build and design-bid-build delivery methods preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and cost management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction software
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 – $155,000 per year

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience managing projects for agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), NAVFAC, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), General Services Administration (GSA), Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), or other federal agencies are strongly encouraged to apply.
