Our client, a growing seed company, is hiring a Crop Specialist with deep seed production expertise. This is a hands-on field role working alongside the agronomist from planting through harvest so that every field meets yield, purity and quality targets.
What you'll do
- Scout seed production fields and catch problems early with pests, weeds, disease and fertility
- Run planting execution, including isolation distances and split-planting timing
- Lead detasseling, roguing and off-type removal, and keep fields ready for certification inspections
- Monitor pollination timing and nick
- Pull samples and estimate yields, and help set harvest timing and moisture targets with the plant
- Keep detailed field records and share what you see with the agronomist
What you bring
- 3+ years of hands-on seed corn or soybean seed production experience
- A strong working knowledge of hybrid seed production, purity standards and certification requirements
- A degree in Agronomy, Crop Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on seed production experience
- Comfort working outdoors in all seasonal conditions
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally during the season
