Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Shop Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC

Position Summary

The Fire Sprinkler Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, inventory, fabrication, scheduling coordination, and field support for fire sprinkler installation and service teams. This role ensures materials, equipment, and prefabrication are accurate, timely, code-compliant, and aligned with project schedules to keep field crews productive and profitable.


Key Responsibilities

Shop & Operations Management

  • Manage day-to-day shop operations, including prefabrication, staging, and material flow
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, service managers, and field supervisors
  • Ensure accurate job kitting, material pulls, and timely delivery to job sites
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards

Inventory & Materials

  • Oversee inventory levels for pipe, fittings, heads, valves, hangers, and tools
  • Track material usage and minimize waste, shortages, and over-ordering
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain pricing, availability, and lead times
  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconciliation

Fabrication & Quality Control

  • Supervise pipe fabrication and grooving/threading operations
  • Ensure all materials and assemblies meet NFPA and company quality standards
  • Review shop drawings and cut lists to confirm accuracy before fabrication
  • Identify and resolve fabrication or material issues proactively

Scheduling & Logistics

  • Support project schedules by prioritizing shop work and deliveries
  • Coordinate trucks, drivers, and deliveries as needed
  • Respond quickly to urgent jobsite needs and service calls

Leadership & Training

  • Lead, train, and develop shop personnel
  • Enforce safety policies and proper equipment use
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and performance oversight
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and efficiency

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler systems (installation, service, or fabrication)
  • Strong understanding of sprinkler materials, components, and layouts
  • Experience managing inventory, shop operations, or warehouse functions
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and material takeoffs
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

Preferred

  • NICET certification (any level)
  • Prior Shop Manager or Foreman experience
  • Forklift and material-handling equipment experience
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards and local AHJ requirements
