Tax Supervising Senior

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Overview

A well-established regional accounting and consulting firm is seeking a Tax Supervising Senior in Los Angeles. You will be responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely preparation of client tax returns, applying advanced technical skills and supervisory skills, and making decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical tax review and approval of tax returns and governmental tax examinations
• Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts, including support for larger audit clients
• Take client service responsibility for assigned clients or clients delegated by partners or managers
• Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations and may represent clients before taxing authorities
• Develop and train seniors, semi-seniors and staff accountants, including performance evaluations and training
• Participate in practice development through referral sources, community and industry activities
• Occasional overtime throughout the year, with heavy overtime from January 1 to April 15 (may exceed 55 hours per week)

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of public accounting experience with a proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and research
• At least 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities
• At least 1 year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's in taxation preferred
