Tax Senior Manager

Location: Miami, FL

Overview

A large national accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Senior Manager for its core tax practice in Miami. You will advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluate alternatives to reduce tax burden and compliance cost, and serve as the primary client contact for compliance, consulting and tax provision matters.

Responsibilities

• Perform top-level review of tax returns and resolve tax issues with clients, involving specialists where appropriate
• Plan for early recognition of material tax and compliance issues
• Frame and direct tax research, and train managers and staff on research skills
• Review tax provisions and explain ASC 740 income tax provision and uncertain tax position matters to clients
• Recommend tax consulting solutions and monitor implementation of tax projects
• Manage inquiries from federal and state agencies and assist with protests at the appeals level
• Supervise, review, train and schedule the work of associates and senior associates and provide performance feedback

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred; Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
• 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, industry or professional services
• Prior supervisory experience required
• CPA, attorney (admitted in a U.S. jurisdiction) or IRS Enrolled Agent required
• Experience with tax research databases and compliance software preferred
• Superior verbal and written communication, analytical and research skills
