Senior Project Manager | Commercial Construction

A Chicago area commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to take ownership of complex projects, build strong client relationships, and help develop the next generation of project managers.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants a seat at the table—bringing sound judgment to major project decisions, partnering with field leadership, and keeping owners confident from preconstruction through closeout.

The Opportunity

You’ll lead the financial, contractual, and operational execution of commercial construction projects. You’ll anticipate challenges, hold teams accountable, and make decisions that protect the schedule, budget, and client relationship.

What You’ll Take Ownership Of

- Lead projects from preconstruction and buyout through completion and closeout.

- Manage budgets, forecasting, contracts, change orders, and project financial performance.

- Partner with superintendents to align project planning with field execution.

- Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.

- Identify risks early and drive practical solutions before they affect delivery.

- Mentor project managers, assistant project managers, and project engineers.

- Support repeat business through consistent execution and strong client relationships.

What You Bring

- A proven track record managing commercial construction projects for a general contractor.

- Experience overseeing complex scopes, multiple stakeholders, and demanding schedules.

- Strong command of project financials, subcontract negotiations, and contract administration.

- The ability to lead a team, have direct conversations, and make timely decisions.

- A collaborative approach that respects field expertise and keeps everyone moving toward the same goal.
