Associate Attorney – Complex Civil Litigation | Santa Barbara / Hybrid / Remote Options

Well-established litigation firm is seeking a 3–5 year Civil Litigation Associate to join its team. Hybrid and fully remote options are available, with Santa Barbara-area candidates preferred. Remote candidates must have a strong track record of handling civil litigation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The firm handles complex, high-stakes litigation and regularly takes matters through trial.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of civil litigation experience
• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• Strong experience managing discovery from initiation through resolution
• Experience with e-discovery platforms and litigation case management tools
• Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills
• Ability to independently manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

What You’ll Do

• Develop factual records and support legal theories using AI and other tools
• Draft and respond to written discovery
• Manage document review and production, including e-discovery vendors
• Handle meet-and-confers and discovery disputes
• Conduct legal research and draft motions and correspondence
• Argue motions and take/defend depositions
• Work closely with senior attorneys, associates, and paralegals

Work Model

• Santa Barbara candidates preferred
• Candidates in nearby areas who can work in person a few days per week will also be considered
• Fully remote candidates may be considered for the right fit
