Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Technician to support plant utilities and production by maintaining and operating ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and Freon systems
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and glycol systems
  • Monitor and record temperatures and humidity levels; make system adjustments as needed
  • Troubleshoot issues across refrigeration, utilities, and related mechanical/electrical systems
  • Support plant equipment including motors, power distribution, and PLC-controlled systems
  • Complete and document preventative maintenance and work orders
  • Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and food safety standards
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
  • Assist in training and mentoring entry-level refrigeration technicians
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime and improve system performance

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems required
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and utility systems
  • Experience with compressors, glycol systems, and heat exchangers
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience in manufacturing or food production environments preferred
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Work Environment & Requirements:

  • Ability to support a 24/7 operation, including weekends and off-shifts as needed
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in tight or confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 75 lbs occasionally
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and moderate to high noise levels
