Shop Safety Manager - Steel Fabrication
Our client, an established structural steel fabrication and erection company in the greater Houston area, is hiring a Shop Safety Manager to lead safety inside its fabrication shop. This is an on-site role for a hands-on safety professional who is comfortable on the shop floor with welders, fitters, crane operators and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Run the day-to-day safety program for the fabrication shop
- Develop, implement and enforce shop safety policies, procedures and training
- Conduct regular shop inspections, audits and hazard assessments (cranes, rigging, welding, cutting, material handling)
- Investigate incidents, find root causes and drive corrective actions
- Maintain OSHA compliance, recordkeeping and reporting
- Partner with shop supervisors and leadership to build a strong safety culture
- Track safety metrics and report results to leadership
Qualifications
- Safety experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing or industrial shop environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA general industry standards
- OSHA 30 required; CSP, ASP or CHST a plus
- Strong communication, training and leadership skills
