Tax Manager

Location: Farmington Hills, MI

Overview

A national CPA and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Manager in the Farmington Hills (Metro Detroit) area. You will oversee and review business and individual tax returns for a diverse client base across a variety of industries, and oversee client relationships and staff to ensure high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies that align with client financial objectives and minimize tax liabilities
• Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff and review their work
• Monitor engagement progress, budgets and timelines
• Coordinate and complete tax research to resolve complex issues and guide decision-making
• Communicate complex tax concepts to clients and deliver client presentations on tax matters
• Review and oversee preparation of tax returns and manage filing deadlines and extensions
• Supervise, mentor and train tax staff
• Identify workflow and process improvements
• Collaborate with leadership on business development and participate in proposals and presentations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 5-8 years of relevant experience
• CPA or Enrolled Agent license
• Experience in a professional services environment such as a CPA firm or financial consulting firm
• Travel may be required depending on client needs
